Sleep Apnea

The term “Apnea” means without breath. Sleep Apnea is a disorder that is characterized by stopping breath during sleep. This problem occurs due to inadequate air flow in to the lungs through the mouth or nose as one tries to breathe regularly causing pause in the breathing process.

This sleep apnea is classified in to two types:

1. Central sleep apnea
2. Obstructive sleep apnea

Central sleep apnea:-

Central sleep apnea is caused due to lack of effort in regular breathing.

Obstructive sleep apnea:-

Obstructive sleep apnea is caused due to physical block in regular breathing.

Symptoms of sleep apnea:

1. Loud snoring
2. Dry throat
3. Gasping or chocking for breath
4. Morning headache
5. Memory problems
6. Irritation
7. Lack of concentration
8. Depression

Causes of sleep apnea:

1. Inability of air flow to the lungs from mouth or nose.
2. Collapsing of throat causing stops in breathing
3. Large tonils may also cause disruption in airflow to the lungs
4. Hereditary problems

Home remedies for sleep apnea:-

1. Quit smoking and loosing over weight is best home remedy for sleep apnea
2. Avoiding alcohol and sleeping pills
3. Avoid sleeping on the back
4. Tie a ball in socks and tie it across the waist. So that you will change your sleeping position regualarly
